Dearest Lucksmiths,
I went to your penultimate concert last year with my father- totally unaware of how lovely you were, or that the gentleman who worked at the greengrocers in my street was your bassist. There is something intensely australian about you, without being Casey Chambers grating or Missy Higgins samey.
There's a song called Fiction (from Warmer Corners) which is what I based this dress on.
The song is really clever, and sweet, and darn catchy too.
Listen to the song- and then look at the dress and it should all make sense.
The 'Fiction' bit is printed on mesh, and the Firs on the front of the dress are painted on. They're from one of the album covers, First Frost- which has another of my favourite songs on it; Lament of the Chiming Wedgebill.
)
Enjoy!
All my love,

Dear Gabriele Adler (Dress 71)
Dear Gabriele Adler
What a gorgeous name- you sound like a stunning brunette frenchwoman in her early thirties, who curates exhibitions of modern art and plays the cello in her spare time, who has fine papery skin and a long aquiline nose- a mash between Charlotte Gainsbourg and Madeleine Peyroux.
But what you are is four and a half kilos of metal and (very old) plastic.
Meet my (little used but much loved) Typewriter.
(Cotton with hand-printed screen stencils in two shades of grey on white, and in white and grey on black.)
All my love,

Dear John Noble (Dress 14)
Dearest John Noble,
You're a wonderful actor, and your portrayal of the (admittedly jackpot) character of Walter Bishop in the enjoyably silly/serious Fringe is a pleasure to watch. Particularly of interest to me is Walter's obsession with sense-memory (a passion I share) and his attention to detail, particularly in Season 1 where his attentiveness to the unique 'fingerprint' of a specific typewriter lead to a major plot revelation...
In honor of antique typewriters, with a footnote to Lee Alexander McQueen:

Dearest SwissMiss (Designing a signature)
Dearest Swiss-Miss,
Thankyou so much for reminding me how much I love Typography (and clever design)! I only look at your blog once a week to save up the treat...
I looked around at lots of font sites for inspiration before embarking on freehand trialling.
Part One: early trials for signature for the blog.
(Designed in my sketchbook, mechanical pencil and Artline .04 fineliner).
All my love,
Ip.
